Are you new to meditation and not sure where to start? Or maybe you have tried it many times before and it just doesn’t seem to work for you. Meditation doesn’t need to be challenging or something else we need to get right or add to our already busy to-do-list.

Meditation is about being present, being curious and exploring the sensation, feelings, emotions and thoughts and arise in the body and mind. Meditation asks us to suspend our judgments, criticisms and attachments, allowing things to move and flow through us, by observing and noticing the workings of the mind, approaching whatever comes up with love, warmth and kindness, to ourselves and others. This 6-week beginner series is great for anyone new to meditation or wanting to deepen their practice. You will get opportunities to explore different types of meditations and see what ones work for you. We will start very simple and gentle and grow our practice together.

    Journey Through the Chakras Series

    7 Week Series

Email to book a small group, Live Dates TBA

The word Chakra is a Sanskrit word for Wheel. They are sometimes called spinning vortexes, spheres, disks or energy. Chakras are the centers in the body for the reception, assimilation and transformation of life energy.  There are “7 major wheels or energy centers” radiating from the central channel the Sushumna located along the spinal column form the base of the spine to the top of the head.  Each Chakra is associated with a particular physical, mental, emotion and spiritual aspect of our being.

The energy of the Charkas correspond to major areas of our lives:

    1st-Survival/Safety; 2nd Sexuality/Emotions; 3rd– Power/Energy; 4th Love/Joy;
    5th -Truth/Communication; 6th – Imagination/Wisdom; 7th– Spiritual/Connection.

This practice can help you heal, transform and create a deeper connection to the Self.

In this series you will be introduced to all 7 major chakras as a system for self-healing and overall wellbeing. Each week we will focus on one chakra, starting with the heart, as the journey begins with the heart, connecting us deeper to ourselves, our souls and the abundant energy all around us. This series is part lecture and primarily practice, to really feel the energy in your body.  The first 10-15 min will be a check in with some slides and the last 45-50 min will be practice. We will explore a variety of asana postures, movement, mudras, breathing, and seed sounds to connect with the energy of each chakra.  Everyone is welcome.

    Yama & Niyama Workshop

    2 Part Workshop

Email to book a small group, Live Dates TBA

This is a 2-part workshop to explore and integrate the 5 yamas and niyamas into your daily life and yoga practice. The first part will cover the yamas; the moral disciplines and the second part will cover the niyamas, the observances.  Each part will be 2.5 hours in length and will start with a check in, journaling prompts, power-point presentation, meditation and movement practice to help integrate and time for reflections and questions at the end.

The yamas and niyamas are yoga’s ethical guidelines laid out in the first two limbs of Patanjali’s eightfold yogic path.  They are like a map or moral compass written to guide you on your life journey.  The yamas can be described as restraints or moral discipline, while the niyamas are observances or individual discipline. These first two limbs are interconnected and our yoga practice begins with them and extends and grows into the other limbs. Join me for this exploration of the first two limbs on the eightfold path to help extend our practice off our mats and into our lives, where we can move deeper into wholeness, unity and loving awareness.

    5 Yamas

    1. Ahimsa- Nonviolence, loving kindness, compassion
    2. Satya- Truth, truthfulness
    3. Asteya- Non-stealing, generosity, giving openly and honestly
    4. Brahmacharya- Non-excess, balance, moderation right use of energy
    5. Aparigraha- non-greed, non- possessiveness, non-attachment, non-clinging

    5 Niyamas

    1. Saucha- Purity, cleanliness, simplicity, freedom
    2. Santosha- Contentment, joy, peace, gratitude, presence
    3. Tapas- Self-discipline, practice, heat, passion, sincerity
    4. Svadhyaya- Self study, interoception, reflection, exploration, curiosity
    5. Ishvara Pranidhana- Surrender, dissolved, unity, true self, universal energy

Tensegrity meets Ayurveda, Mind, Body, Spirit Workshop

    3 hour Workshop

Email to book a small group, Live Dates TBA

Tensegrity, the architecture of life, a term that was formed in the 1960’s and used to describe systems or structures with “tensional integrity, or a balance of compression and tension.”  It can be applied to our bodies, our emotions, our feelings, our thoughts and how we move through life.  It is becoming more popular and well known in the last decade due to a deeper understanding of our fascial system and the body as a whole system.  For me this is just a newer term that Ayurveda, “the science of life” has it’s deep roots and knowledge in.

Ayurveda, is the art of living, an ancient way of living in sync with the cycles of nature, the seasons, the moon cycles, solar cycles, the daily circadian rhythm and your own daily habits and lifestyle.  It looks at everything through a holistic lens coming from a place of collaboration and interconnection with all life to find harmony and balance.

This workshop will combine the teachings of Ayurveda with Tensegrity to develop a deeper, more integrated understanding of our body, mind and spirit as one, to help us on our own unique healing paths.  We will finish our workshop with a hour long ayurvedic yoga and tensegrity practice combined.  We are not separate from nature, we are nature, and through nature we will heal.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

    – Aristotle
